EDTA Tube | Which Test are Done in EDTA Tube
EDTA Tube are blood collection tube that are mostly used in Medical Laboratory.
EDTA Stand for Ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid. EDTA Tube are purple in colour. So many test are done in purple colour edta tube. Ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid is a anticoagulant that are used in EDTA Tube. Anticoagulant are used to prevent the blood from clot in tube. Specially EDTA are anticoagulant that are prevent the blood from clot in purple colour tube.
EDTA Tube are used to collect blood sample for test :-
1. Haemogram Test :- Haemogram is also known as Complete Blood Count Test ( CBC ) or Hmg in short form. In this test, we can detect infection & inflammation in the body by blood sample. In the haemogram test, Haemoglobin ( HB ), red blood cell ( RBC ), white blood cell ( WBC ) and platelets are measure from blood sample.
For the haemogram 3 ML blood are required.
2. Blood Group :- Blood group test are done in EDTA Tube. For the blood group test 2 to 3 ml blood sample are require. Test are done by various method Tube method, Slide method. But slide method are easy & rapid to detect the blood group of patient. In emergency, slide method are used mostly in laboratories. It require three regent Anti A, Anti B, Anti D ( RHO ). There are four main blood group are determined by ABO method. ABO blood group, is another antigen are called RH factor which can also present in blood of various person. If an person are contain RH antigen it means RH positive when RH negative it means RH Negative. Blood group are important in transfusion.
3. ESR :- ESR Test are done in EDTA tube. ESR Stand for Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate. ESR test are specially measure how many amount of infection are in the patient body by the sediment rate of erythrocyte of blood. ESR test required 3 to 5 ml blood sample of patient. Erythrocyte disposable tube are used in ESR test. ESR test are done in 1 hour. It require only blood sample of patient and ESR disposable tube and glass tube. In a one hour, how many amount of Blood are sediment are calculate by the ESR Test.
4. HBA1C :- HBA1c test are done in EDTA tube. hba1c is also known as glycosylated haemoglobin test. Hba1c test are used to estimate the 3 month average sugar or glucose of patient by blood sample. Hba1c test are done by various method but mostly High performance liquid chromotagraph technique ( HPLC ) are used. Hba1c test require 3 ml blood sample of patient.
5. Ammonia :- Ammonia test are done in EDTA Tube. So many are confused in ammonia test are done in edta tube or plain tube. But Ammonia test are carry out only in a EDTA Tube. This test require Whole blood sample. Ammonia is a toxic and harmful substance produce when the body break down the proteins. Normally in your body, liver convert the ammonia into a urea and excrete by urine from the body. It diagnosis and monitor a liver disease such as a main liver failure. High level of ammonia in your body means liver are not do there work properly. Symptoms of high ammonia is confusion, nausea, vomiting and head ache. Normal ammonia range in your body is 15 to 45 micro moles per liter.
6. PBS for MP Test :- PBs MP stand for phosphate buffer saline morpholine propanesulfonate. It commonly hard in hematology department. This test are carry out in a card. It require a 1 to 2 stop of blood sample of patient.
7. DCT :- DCT stand for direct coomb test. Coomb test are known as the antiglobulin test. It is used to detect the antibodies against the red blood cell. Direct coomb test are are used to detect the antibodies are attached to the red blood cell. Both are diagnosis a hemolytic anemia disease. It require 3 to 5 ml blood sample of patient. It diagnosis hemolytic anemia, blood transfusion reaction, hemolytic disease of newborn. Indirect coomb test are detect the free antibodies in the blood sample of patient.
8. RMT Test :- RMT stand for rapid malaria test. It is also known as rapid diagnosis test. It is easy and fast way to detect malaria by the blood sample of patient. Test are carry out in a card. It require 2 to 3 drop of blood sample of patient. Blood sample are collect in EDTA tube, blood apply on testing card. This test are use to detect the malaria antigen in the blood sample. Result are available in 5 to 10 minutes.
9. HB Electrophoresis :- HB electrophoresis test are done in EDTA Tube. HB electrophoresis is a lab test that are used to separate and identify different types of haemoglobin in a patient body. It diagnosis the sickle cell disease. This technique separate a haemoglobin by electric charge. It identify a S, C, D, E and F abnormal haemoglobin variant. Test require 5 ml blood sample of patient. Electrophoresis is a technique that help to separate particle or molecules based on the electric charge. To identify different type of haemoglobin mainly electrophoresis technique are used.
10. RETICULOCYTE COUNT :- This test measure a count of reticulocyte in the patient body. It is a young and immature red blood cell release by bone marrow and continuously developing. Low amount of reticulocyte means bone marrow not produce require amount red blood cell. High reticulocyte count means bone marrow produce more amount red blood cell.
11. Sickling test :- Test used to diagnose sickle cell disease. It detect the prescence of haemoglobin S that are abnormal haemoglobin that cause red blood cell in sickle shaped. When the test is positive means red blood cell ( RBC ) are sickle shaped in structure.
12. G6PD Test :- G6PD is a blood test. G6PD full form is Glucose 6 phoshpate dehydrogenase. G6pd is an enzyme that help to proper function of Red blood cell. G6PD deficiency lead to many disease like hemolytic anemia, jaundice etc. It require a 3 to 5 ml blood sample of patient.
